The Val de Zafán Greenway runs for 29.5 km along the disused railway line that used to run from Tortosa and the Tierras del Ebro region to Aragon. It runs through the rural district of Matarraña (or Matarranya in Catalan) on the border between Teruel and Tarragona, an area with a marked Mediterranean character. Here the landscape alternates between forest and mountain, plains and hills, and is dotted with amazing villages carved out of stone.

Matarraña can be enjoyed by strolling through the streets of its towns and villages, discovering the little details they have to offer, or by savouring the majesty of its landscapes. It is an area full of secrets which this Greenway can reveal.
